KY - Self Branding
After completing my BA in Digital Media, I’ve gained valuable skills and had the opportunity to refine, experiment with, and expand my creative abilities. Redesigning my logo and rebranding myself felt like a natural next step, marking my transition from a digital design student to a junior digital designer — with the goal of evolving into a fully-fledged designer in the future.
— Logo changes
Upon reviewing my old logo, I found several flaws: harsh colour saturation, excessive negative space, awkward construction, and a rectangular shape that didn’t scale well to a square.
However, the original logo had strengths I’ve preserved, such as the clean ‘KY’ letters and the diamond shape, which is a key motif in my branding.
The new logo refines these elements into a more compact, balanced design with muted colours and stronger structure. It maintains the original intent while reflecting my growth and maturity as a designer.

— Colour
I’ve kept the original colours in my branding, but the focus has shifted to the gradients between them, rather than using two distinct, alternating colours. This change softens the harsh contrast and creates a smoother, more contemporary feel.

— Typography
Minor changes have been made to the typography, specifically the body copy. This includes the copy contained within the logo. The decision came naturally as a result of the logo change, where a more soft and rounded font was needed to compliment the new icon.
